The Nanoscience and Nanotechnology program at Virginia Commonwealth University offers a unique opportunity for interdisciplinary research at the forefront of both physics and chemistry as well as state of the art instrument facilities.
The Nanoscience and Nanotechnology program offers a Doctor of Philosophy degree. This program provides opportunities for concentrated study in chemistry, physics, or engineering. A plan of study is worked out for each student to ensure a sound basis for research. The NaS-NaT Ph.D. program will offer a research-intensive degree with an emphasis on fundamental science and applications of nano-scale materials. The Ph.D. degree will require a 18 credits in course requirements as specified below. The required courses are designed to provide the students with a broad overview of the entire arena of nanotechnology, a solid foundation in selected areas of nanoscience, and specialized knowledge represented by individualized research expertise.
